caity wainwright (they/she)

producer

as someone who grew up performing and currently works as a freelance dance teacher and choreographer, caity is always looking for a way to be involved in the arts. recently, through previous work experiences and their studies, they have discovered a passion for producing and are excited by the combination of the arts, leadership, and organisational skills.

currently studying a bachelor of arts and cultural management at waapa, caity is now often found working behind the scenes, finding joy from watching the pieces of a production come together with the efforts of the team. having worked with perhaps before as producer and co-lead artist on ‘recital’., caity is beyond grateful to work with such a wonderful company again.

what has been your favourite part of working on ‘all the stars.’?

working with such an incredibly talented team that all display so much passion about the work they’re doing and the story being told.

if you were to pick one song to describe ‘all the stars.’, what would it be?

‘if we lived on the moon’ by vivi rincon.

how has your experience of queerness shaped who you are?

i think there is this feeling of difference that has followed me throughout my life that i used to be ashamed of. as i’ve grown into my queer identity, i’ve discovered that this feeling of otherness is a part of my queerness and isn’t something to shy away from. now, being a lesbian is tied to my whole life, music, my interests and hobbies, the way i dress and the people i surround myself with.

which character says your favourite line from ‘all the stars.’?

“i make space for you in a body i do not recognise”, said by andie. i just think this line embodies a lot of how andie feels throughout the show.

who do you relate most to; andie or tessa?

definitely andie. i feel like every time i read the script, i see so much of myself in them. i very much have an avoidant attachment style and have definitely read the script and gone ‘oh i’ve said that before’.

if you could give any advice to your young queer self, what would it be?

that someday you will find the confidence to live without shame and to stop changing yourself for the male gaze.

who is your favourite couple who is doomed by the narrative?

ladybug and cat noir. both as adrien/marinette and ladybug/cat noir, these two are just destined to never have a happy ending together. not only do they have awful timing, but their superhero identities are proven multiple times that their relationship would cause issues in the future. and even if they did end up together, marinette’s guardian role means that she would forget everything once she passes the position onto someone else.
