what has been your favourite part of working on ‘all the stars.’?
my favourite part about working on ‘all the stars.’ is the diverse cast and engaging script. i liked the writing as soon as i saw the audition material because i could see throughout it the inspirations and what the writer values the audience to see, the connection, the heavy questions you don’t normally see asked. i liked it all.
if you were to pick one song to describe ‘all the stars.’, what would it be?
‘we’ll never have sex’ by leith ross.
how has your experience of queerness shaped who you are?
queerness isn’t quite soul defining or all encompassing to me as it is for others but i do cherish it in the way i don’t need to pinpoint it exactly for it to be acknowledged. i love being bi and telling other people that i’m bi but there’s also so much more self expression and complexities of being a person that might branch out to other areas, and that’s fine too. it was nice to have a face to a feeling i ignored for so long, and i’m so glad to have found it.
which character says your favourite line from ‘all the stars.’?
andie in general has lines i relate to a lot as a masc woman, and there are some shared experiences that were a little dizzying! i do love when they take off into a tangent though, info dumping about the stars and their shine, it’s very sweet.
who do you relate most to; andie or tessa?
i may have indirectly answered this last question, whoops! but to expand on that, i love the messy, gross and uncomfortable nature of being young and in love: it’s all hard edges and not quite right pieces which is the complete queer experience. i relate to them both in their search of finding themselves and others.
if you could give any advice to your young queer self, what would it be?
i would tell them that watching but i’m a cheerleader repeatedly and in a private tab doesn’t mean you magically didn’t watch it over and over again. you aren’t being ironic and i think we both know that.
also, i don’t care how cool the comedians in “whose line is it anyway?” were, the vests, fedora and hawaiian shirts were a bad move. don’t do it again.
who is your favourite couple who is doomed by the narrative?
ahhh, is this a trick question? testing loyalty? andie and tessa! (on a smaller scale, though, kate sharma from bridgerton and me who are doomed to forever be in separate (literal) narratives)
